ESB has unveiled a pioneering project in Ireland, introducing a demonstration of hydrogen power generation that marks the first deployment of hydrogen to electricity in the country. The showcased fuel cells, developed by GeoPura and Siemens Energy, utilize fuel cell technology to convert hydrogen into electricity, providing up to 250kW of clean power. Importantly, the process results in pure water as the only by-product, aligning with the move towards sustainable energy sources. The project is part of a larger green hydrogen lighthouse initiative, with upcoming phases including the deployment of an electrolyser at ESB's Aghada Power Station.
