The industry is now shifting its focus to include commercial vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, like battery-electric vehicles, are zero-emission but offer the advantage of rapid refueling. Companies like Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, BMW, and Jaguar Land Rover are actively involved in developing and launching hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. For instance, Honda has started production of its CR-V e:FCEV fuel cell vehicle with a rechargeable battery and hydrogen tanks in the U.S. Toyota is preparing to launch its hydrogen fuel cell Hilux pick-up truck, and BMW is testing its iX5 Hydrogen SUV for series production from 2028. Other manufacturers like Riversimple, Pininfarina, and Hyperion Motors are also entering the market with hydrogen-powered concept cars and vehicles. Stellantis and Renault have introduced light-duty hydrogen fuel cell vans. Stellantis is producing these vans in France and Poland with varying ranges.
