Hyundai Motor Group has announced partnerships with three Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) - IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Madras, to establish a collaborative research system in the fields of batteries and electrification in India. The Group will set up the Hyundai Center of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Delhi with the primary objective of driving advancements in batteries and electrification to meet the specific needs of the Indian market. The initiative involves a $7 million investment over five years to conduct joint research with the IITs, focusing on areas such as software and hydrogen fuel cells. This collaboration aims to contribute to the development of an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in India, aligning with the government's policies for expanding EV distribution. The Hyundai CoE will facilitate technical and human exchanges between experts from Korea and India, including technical exchange meetings, special lectures, and training programs. This effort is intended to foster talent development and enhance the Group's presence in India. The partnerships also reflect the Group's commitment to India, following the successful IPO of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), and emphasize the shared vision of mutual growth and collaboration for research on advanced technologies and India-specific product development.
