Hyzon, New Way Trucks, and Recology recently displayed North America's first hydrogen fuel cell electric refuse truck at a clean energy event in California. The event, hosted by the Alliance for Renewable Clean Hydrogen Energy Systems, commemorated the award of a $12.6 billion investment to establish a Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub in California. This hub, known as ARCHES, will receive $1.2 billion in federal funding along with $11.4 billion in public and private investments to build a network of clean, renewable hydrogen production sites, fueling stations, and open-access pipelines. The aim is to support the decarbonization of over 5,000 fuel cell electric trucks, including the refuse collection truck developed by Hyzon and New Way in partnership with Recology. The partnership symbolizes a significant step towards decarbonizing challenging industries and realizing the potential of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles in North America.
