SAIC Motor, a Chinese state-owned automaker, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with local tech giant Huawei to jointly develop a new generation of intelligent new energy vehicles (NEVs). The collaboration aims to introduce cutting-edge smart mobility features to customers. The partnership will encompass various aspects such as product definition, manufacturing, supply chain management, and sales and services. SAIC Motor will contribute its expertise in battery electric vehicles (BEV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technologies, including components like EV batteries, electric drive systems, and fuel cell solutions. On the other hand, Huawei will leverage its software, hardware, chip, and cloud solutions to enhance the development of advanced automotive technologies focusing on intelligent driving, vehicle controls, and software-defined vehicles. Huawei has been actively forming partnerships and joint ventures with several local automakers in the smart electric vehicle space, including Changan Automobile, GAC Group, Dongfeng Motor, JAC Motor, BYD, and Seres. The collaboration between SAIC Motor and Huawei signifies a significant step towards revolutionizing smart NEVs by integrating battery and hydrogen fuel cell technologies.
