The Start Up Energy Transition (SET) Global Innovation Platform has announced the top 100 start-ups of 2025 within energy and climate tech, highlighting their innovations across sectors, from clean energy and storage to mobility and more. SET, launched by the German Energy Agency (dena) in 2016 to foster connections between corporate players, the public sector and energy innovators, has released its SET100 list, a compilation of the top 100 SET Award applications. The SET100 list features start-ups across various categories like clean energy & storage, mobility & transportation, industry, buildings & construction, and quality energy access & SDG-7.
In the Clean Energy & Storage sector, SET emphasized energy storage solutions, AI-driven energy management platforms, and advancements in hydrogen production as key areas of innovation. Among the top three start-ups in this category are Power to Hydrogen (P2H2) from the US, Botree Recycling Technologies from China, and Cowa Thermal Solutions AG from Switzerland.
The Industry sector, responsible for a significant portion of global greenhouse emissions, saw finalists like Cyclize GmbH from Germany, Variolytics GmbH from Germany, and ROSI from France. These start-ups focus on innovative solutions to reduce emissions, promote a circular economy, and support sustainable practices.
In the Buildings & Construction category, start-ups like Concular GmbH and PIONIERKRAFT GmbH from Germany were recognized for their efforts in creating energy-efficient buildings of the future through material reuse, recycling, and adoption of solar energy.
The innovative solutions showcased in the SET100 list highlight the global drive towards sustainable, resilient energy systems and the importance of technological innovations in tackling climate challenges.
