French fuel cell manufacturer Symbio has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining IATF certification for both the design and manufacturing of systems at its SymphonHy gigafactory located in Saint-Fons. This certification, granted by Bureau Veritas, establishes Symbio as the first hydrogen fuel cell technology player in Europe to meet the automotive industry's reference standard, ensuring the quality and reliability of its products and services. CEO Philippe Rosier emphasized the importance of this achievement, highlighting Symbio's organisational maturity, industrial rigour, and innovative strength. The certification marks a strategic milestone for the company, demonstrating its commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence to meet the demanding standards of the automotive sector. Supported by the EU and French government, the €1bn SymphonHy gigafactory project aims to produce 200,000 fuel cell units by 2030, with a specific focus on light commercial vehicle applications. Symbio's dedication to enhancing power density to package its fuel cell systems under the hood aligns with its goal of providing innovative solutions to the market.
