Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), based in Visakhapatnam, is taking significant steps towards driving India's sustainable energy transition by focusing on green hydrogen technology. Teaming up with a leading Korean fuel cell technology firm and Indian industry partner, Lotus Wireless Private Limited, HSL is poised to introduce advanced hydrogen fuel cell technology to the Indian maritime sector. These fuel cells, certified and scalable from 250 kW to 2 MW, are designed to revolutionize the sector by offering a sustainable alternative to traditional diesel systems. The modular design of these cells allows for easy integration into various marine vessels, promoting flexibility and efficiency in power usage. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has endorsed this initiative, highlighting the pivotal role of green hydrogen in India's energy future. HSL's commitment to 'Make in India' is evident through the integration of domestic industry expertise, ensuring not only environmental benefits but also supporting the country's clean energy objectives. By focusing on customised solutions and standards, HSL aims to cater to diverse customer needs and drive widespread adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technology in marine applications.
