This move marks Waaree's expansion beyond solar energy into the green hydrogen sector and battery energy storage systems. The company's strategic investments include setting up a 300 MW electrolyser manufacturing plant and a 3.5 GWh lithium-ion advanced chemistry storage cell manufacturing plant in its subsidiaries.
Waaree Energies is financing these endeavors with a capital expenditure approved by the board. The investment of INR 551 crore for the electrolyser plant and INR 2,073 crore for the storage cell plant will be a combination of debt and internal accruals. These initiatives demonstrate Waaree's commitment to sustainability and its goal of becoming a key player in the evolving renewable energy industry.
Apart from the green hydrogen project, Waaree Energies also recently started trial production at its 5.4 GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Gujarat and has plans for a 6 GW integrated facility in Odisha.
