Boomtown has introduced a new stage named HYDRO for its upcoming event, powered solely by hydrogen fuel cells in collaboration with Hydrologiq. The hydrogen fuel cell generators will generate clean, emission-free electricity, with water vapour being the only by-product. This initiative is part of a broader effort to decrease CO2e emissions in supply chains and minimize local and on-site pollution. The co-founder of Boomtown, Luke Mitchell, expressed great enthusiasm for launching a festival stage that operates entirely on hydrogen power, highlighting the importance of taking innovative steps towards sustainability. He hopes this move will inspire other events to transition to a net-zero future. Benjamin Lindley, the COO of Hydrologiq, praised the integration of hydrogen technology in urban settings, emphasizing the role of hydrogen in replacing diesel and cutting down carbon emissions. This collaboration builds on a previous project in 2022 where Hydrologiq provided hydrogen-powered generators for Boomtown's public transport hub, marking a step towards a greener festival experience for attendees and staff. By embracing clean energy solutions and remote monitoring technologies, Boomtown and Hydrologiq aim to create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly event, setting an example for future large-scale gatherings.
