South Staffordshire College has unveiled its new Net Zero Energy Training Centre at Rodbaston College, made possible by a £1.6m Getting Building Fund. The Training Centre is dedicated to advancing green skills development in the region and preparing the local workforce for the shift towards Net Zero technologies. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities like photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging stations, air source heat pumps, and hydrogen boilers, the center also provides training in renewable energy systems, energy-efficient practices, HVAC technologies, and sustainable infrastructure development. Industry expert tutors introduce visitors to the wide range of courses available, catering to professionals in various fields. Neil Sambrook, the Faculty Director, emphasizes the center's role in upskilling the existing workforce and educating the next generation in alternative energy technologies. The center offers courses in renewable heating, electric vehicle charging, hydrogen vehicle awareness, air source heat pump maintenance, solar PV installation, and more. The collaboration between South Staffordshire College and the council has resulted in significant investments like a hydrogen vehicle rig, enhancing the learning experience for individuals interested in sustainable technologies.
