EVARM, a Spanish company, has taken a significant step towards sustainable industrial transport by developing a pioneering hydrogen fuel cell prototype for a truck used in municipal waste collection. The prototype, based on an Iveco S-Way truck, replaces the conventional diesel engine with a 250 kW electric motor, a fuel cell, and hydrogen tanks, achieving enhanced efficiency and zero carbon emissions. This initiative, supported by Applus+ IDIADA and European partners, aims to revolutionize the waste management sector's energy transition by introducing clean and efficient industrial transport solutions. With plans to convert PreZero Group's combustion fleet to electric propulsion with hydrogen, EVARM showcases its commitment to sustainable mobility and decarbonization in Spain. The compact and efficient fuel cell design, developed in collaboration with German specialists and European innovation institutes, offers superior energy efficiency and a remarkable range of 450 kilometers, surpassing traditional electric battery alternatives.
