- 21 Xcient trucks will transport vehicle parts from suppliers to the Megasite in Bryan County, Georgia, with plans to expand operations to a broader network.
- The initiative supports a cleaner alternative to traditional freight logistics, with the trucks releasing zero emissions.
- Hyundai introduced HTWO at CES, a hydrogen value chain brand, with plans for a hydrogen refueling station at the Megasite.
Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) and Glovis America have announced the deployment of 21 Hyundai Xcient hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks for clean logistics operations in the USA. These heavy-duty trucks will transport vehicle parts from HMGMA suppliers to the Megasite in Bryan County, Georgia, on a daily basis, initially focusing on suppliers and the consolidation center. The project aims to eventually involve a broader supplier network, representing a significant portion of the Glovis America truck fleet at HMGMA. Oscar Kwon, HMGMA CEO, highlighted the trucks' emission-free operation and their role in providing a cleaner logistics solution. Hyundai's new hydrogen value chain brand, HTWO, introduced at CES, will oversee the different stages of the hydrogen value chain, including production, storage, transportation, and use. Additionally, HTWO Logistics, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor Company and Glovis America, will set up a mobile hydrogen refueling station at the Megasite to enable efficient refueling. Hyundai also plans to establish a hydrogen production and refueling station in the future.
