- The CEO of Metrans Group, Peter Kiss, highlights the importance of testing hydrogen technology for decarbonizing European logistics chains and providing climate-friendly transport options.
Metrans, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), has entered into a collaboration with Mobility & Innovation Production s.r.o. (MIP) to conduct trials on the first hydrogen-powered truck in Slovakia. The initiative aims to bolster Metrans' zero-emission vehicle fleet for providing clients with sustainable container transportation services. During the official product launch in Slovakia, a letter of intent was signed to signify this partnership. At the Slovakia Ring in Orechová Potôň, MIP and Metrans, along with other partners, displayed the hydrogen-powered truck and formalized their intent to use it for container transport. The hydrogen-powered truck by MIP boasts an impressive range, suitable for long-distance travel, with a 48-kilogramme tank enabling a range of 600 kilometres on renewable hydrogen. Metrans plans to initially deploy this vehicle for Slovak transit within its European network, focusing on extensive testing. Peter Kiss, the CEO of Metrans Group, expressed enthusiasm about testing MIP's hydrogen-powered truck, emphasizing the innovation's role in providing climate-friendly transport options and advancing decarbonization in European logistics. This initiative aligns with Metrans' commitment to sustainability, as seen in their integration of a photovoltaic system to power rail links in Germany with renewable electricity.
