Nikola Corporation, a provider of zero-emissions transportation and energy supply and infrastructure solutions, has partnered with ITD Industries to inaugurate the first commercial hydrogen refuelling station for heavy-duty trucks in Ontario. The station, situated at ITD Industries in Etobicoke, marks a significant milestone in the development of hydrogen infrastructure in North America. It utilizes a 700-bar pressure-fill system to dispense hydrogen fuel, ensuring efficient refuelling for long-range vehicles. The collaboration between Nikola Corporation and ITD Industries aims not only to provide trucks but also the necessary fueling solutions to foster the hydrogen ecosystem. The launch event was attended by notable personalities including Ontario's Premier Doug Ford and business leaders from companies like Canadian Tire, Loblaws, and Walmart Canada. Walmart Canada is set to become the first major retailer in the country to incorporate Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks in its fleet. ITD Industries, in partnership with Nikola Corporation, plans to establish multiple hydrogen refuelling stations across Ontario, with a vision to create a hydrogen fuelling corridor linking Windsor to Montréal.
