Tata Motors, India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has started the first-ever trials of hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks in India, aligning with the country's green campaign against climate change. The trial, launched in New Delhi and attended by government officials, will run for up to 24 months and feature 16 advanced hydrogen vehicles being tested on major freight routes across India. This initiative, part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, aims to evaluate the feasibility of hydrogen-powered trucks for long-distance cargo transportation and develop the necessary infrastructure for their operation. Tata Motors' commitment to sustainable mobility solutions is highlighted through its deployment of vehicles equipped with Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2ICE) and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) technologies, showcasing a comprehensive approach to hydrogen mobility. With operational ranges of 300-500 km, these trucks prioritize sustainability, cost-efficiency, and high performance.
