Airports Council International (ACI) World and Airbus have entered a partnership to drive the aviation industry towards sustainability by reducing its environmental impact. The Memorandum of Cooperation aims to leverage the strengths of Airbus as a leading aircraft manufacturer and ACI World as the largest international association of airports to make significant progress in decarbonizing aviation and mitigating aircraft noise impact. Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Director General and CEO of ACI World, highlighted the cooperation as a pivotal step towards a net-zero carbon aviation industry, emphasizing the commitment of airports worldwide to sustainable aviation. The alliance will address key areas such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), hydrogen technologies, advanced air mobility, operational efficiency, and aircraft noise management, setting new benchmarks for sustainability in aviation. By fostering the exchange of information, developing guidance materials, and potentially influencing policies and standards, the partnership aims to achieve industry targets and drive innovation in the aviation sector. The collaboration builds on an existing partnership between Airbus and ACI Europe, focusing on alternative energies like hydrogen and SAF, with the goal of reducing aviation's environmental impact. This joint effort aims to create a cohesive approach to achieving decarbonization targets and enhancing the sustainability of the global aviation industry.
