Airbus has entered into a cooperation agreement with airports association ACI World, focusing on sustainability efforts in the aviation industry. The partnership will concentrate on various areas including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), hydrogen technologies, advanced air mobility, operational efficiency, and aircraft noise management. The collaboration aims to exchange information, foster industry progress, develop guidance materials, and potentially form unified positions on policies and standards to meet industry targets. Airbus' chief sustainability officer Julie Kitcher highlighted the intention to leverage technological expertise alongside ACI World's operational insights to influence supportive policies and standards for sustainable aviation. ACI World's director general and CEO, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, emphasized the significance of this partnership in the aviation industry's pursuit of carbon neutrality by 2025, showcasing a strong commitment to sustainable aviation and the optimization of air travel's socio-economic benefits. This collaboration builds upon Airbus' existing partnership with ACI Europe, which commenced two years ago and has focused on alternative energy deployment, including hydrogen and SAF. The agreement with ACI World signifies a crucial advancement towards achieving carbon net zero targets and enhancing the sustainability of the global aviation sector.
