American Airlines has entered into a significant partnership with ZeroAvia, a clean aviation innovator, to acquire 100 hydrogen-electric engines for regional jet aircraft. These engines are designed to eliminate inflight emissions, producing only water vapour. In addition to the engine purchase agreement, American Airlines has expanded its investment in ZeroAvia by participating in the company's Series C financing round. This move reinforces American's commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. ZeroAvia is at the forefront of developing hydrogen-electric (fuel cell-powered) engines for commercial aircraft, focusing on minimizing inflight emissions.
