AMSL Aero, a VTOL company, has teamed up with Aeria Management Group (AMG) to introduce hydrogen as an aviation fuel at Bankstown Airport in Sydney. The partnership aims to utilize hydrogen fuel cells to extend the range of AMSL Aero's Vertiia aircraft to 1000km. AMSL Aero is currently testing the powertrain for Vertiia on the ground using hydrogen cylinders on-site at Bankstown Airport before moving forward with integrating the fuel into the aircraft. The company plans to conduct test flights with hydrogen fuel in 2025, leading up to the certification and commencement of commercial flights in 2027. AMSL Aero's CEO, Max York, expressed pride in the collaboration with AMG, emphasizing the milestone achieved in the mission to decarbonize aviation.
