The push towards achieving zero-emission aviation has received a significant boost with a collaborative effort between Stralis Aircraft, Fabrum, and Ara Ake in Christchurch. This partnership aims to pioneer Australasia's first liquid-hydrogen-powered flight by designing, building, and testing hydrogen storage tanks and a fuel system. Stralis' lightweight hydrogen-electric propulsion technology combined with Fabrum's composite tank systems and liquid hydrogen infrastructure is set to revolutionize the aviation industry with cleaner fuel that boasts higher energy density than batteries or sustainable aviation fuel. The collaboration not only marks a milestone for hydrogen innovation in both countries but also showcases New Zealand's role as a global testbed for sustainable aviation innovation.
