China's Milestone in Hydrogen Energy: Cross-Region Truck Route Launch
Key Ideas
- China Petrochemical Corporation launches China's first cross-region hydrogen heavy-duty truck route spanning 1,150 kilometers.
- The route features four hydrogen refueling stations to support a reliable hydrogen supply network.
- The western regions of China are rich in hydrogen resources, enabling industrial by-product hydrogen output to meet the fuel demands of 360,000 vehicles annually.
China Petrochemical Corporation, also known as Sinopec Group, has officially launched China's first cross-region hydrogen heavy-duty truck route, a significant step in advancing hydrogen energy development in the country's western regions. This route, operational for regular freight services via hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks, stretches 1,150 kilometers from Chongqing Municipality to Qinzhou Port, passing through Guizhou Province. It boasts four hydrogen refueling stations built by Sinopec to ensure a reliable supply network. The regions along the route are abundant in hydrogen resources, utilizing technologies like water electrolysis and ammonia decomposition for hydrogen production. With an annual industrial hydrogen output exceeding 400,000 tonnes, these regions can satisfy the fuel needs of 360,000 hydrogen-powered logistics vehicles. Beyond transportation, the corridor is a key industrial hub, projected to handle 220,000 units of cargo annually. This initiative signals a positive shift towards sustainable energy practices in China's transportation sector.
