Germany-based renewable hydrogen producer Hy2gen has secured a significant funding round of €47 million from existing shareholders to expedite the development of its hydrogen and derivatives projects globally. The funding, led by Hy24, Technip Energies, and BenDa, aims to accelerate the deployment of a portfolio of projects producing renewable hydrogen and its derivatives in regions like Europe, Canada, and South America. The projects include green hydrogen, green ammonia, e-SAF, e-methane, and e-methanol production plants using Power-to-X (PtX) processes to support clients in decarbonizing energy-intensive sectors such as shipping, aviation, chemicals, and fertilizers. Hy2gen plans to advance its projects with a total installed electrolysis capacity of approximately 2 GW and a significant funding of more than €5 billion to commence the construction phase by 2027. The company's portfolio features projects like the 300 MW Courant project in Canada focusing on renewable ammonia production, the Atlantis plant extension in Germany producing renewable hydrogen, and the Iverson project in Norway aiming to produce renewable ammonia using renewable hydropower. The raised funds will empower Hy2gen to complete planning and certification stages for industrial-scale production plants and proceed towards the construction phase.
