In a significant development towards green energy and sustainability, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) Green Hydrogen Hub Project in Pudimadaka near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This project, developed by NGEL and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), is India's first Green Hydrogen Hub under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. It aims to establish 20 GW of renewable energy capacity, 1500 TPD of green hydrogen, and 7500 TPD of green hydrogen derivatives like green methanol, urea, and aviation fuel. With an investment of ₹1,85,000 crore, the project will create employment opportunities and support India in achieving its 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity target by 2030. Covering 1600 acres, the Green Hydrogen Hub will include various facilities such as a manufacturing unit, green chemical zone, storage terminal, desalination plant, and a 7 GW substation. This initiative will not only position Andhra Pradesh as a global green energy leader but also contribute significantly to India's decarbonization efforts and Net Zero ambitions. NGEL is also exploring partnerships with other state governments, with plans for a 25 GW renewable energy collaboration with Rajasthan. These endeavors mark a crucial shift towards sustainable energy solutions and a greener future for India.
