OMV Petrom, the largest integrated energy producer in Southeast Europe, is making significant investments in Romania to produce sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), renewable diesel (HVO), and green hydrogen. The company will invest around EUR 750 million to transform the Petrobrazi refinery into the region's first major producer of sustainable fuels. With a focus on decarbonizing transport, OMV Petrom plans to supply approximately 250 kt/year of sustainable fuels starting in 2028. By committing EUR 11 billion by 2030, the company aims to support a lower carbon future in Romania and the region. This investment includes building a SAF/HVO facility and two green hydrogen production units. The green hydrogen will be integrated into sustainable fuels, resulting in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The company has also acquired a 50% stake in 'Respiră Verde,' a leader in collecting used cooking oil, to secure raw materials for biofuel production. OMV Petrom's initiatives align with sustainability goals, offering product certainty and reducing carbon emissions for customers.
