Masdar, in partnership with TotalEnergies, is embarking on a groundbreaking project to develop commercial green hydrogen to methanol to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Abu Dhabi. The venture aims to address emissions in hard-to-abate sectors like aviation and maritime by leveraging green hydrogen from renewable energy sources and CO2 capture for feedstock. This initiative follows a successful test flight showcasing the conversion of methanol to SAF. Aligning with Abu Dhabi's Low Carbon Hydrogen Policy and UAE's National Hydrogen Strategy, the project highlights a strategic move towards sustainable energy solutions. Masdar's commitment to increasing its renewable energy portfolio capacity and leading in green hydrogen production reflects a shift towards a greener and more sustainable future in the global energy landscape.
