Senator Jon Ossoff has announced the allocation of federal grants to LanzaJet and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to expedite the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Atlanta, Georgia. LanzaJet, a sustainable aviation fuel producer, will receive $3,096,047 to support its new production facility in Soperton. The funding is designated for installing new storage tanks to increase the annual production capacity of sustainable aviation fuel. The CEO of LanzaJet, Jimmy Samartzis, expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing the importance of SAF in decarbonizing the aviation industry and acknowledging the role of federal funding in advancing the sector. The grant of $240,000 to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport aims to enhance regional supply chains and infrastructure for sustainable aviation fuel operations, aligning with the airport's sustainability initiatives as the world's busiest airport.
