During the third edition of the Singapore-Japan Dialogue on Aviation Collaboration in Kansai, Japan, leaders from the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) met to strengthen ties in the aviation sector. The meeting focused on air connectivity, sustainability, safety, traffic management, innovation, and the integration of unmanned and advanced aerial systems. Flight frequency between Singapore and Japan has almost reached pre-pandemic levels, with both countries aiming for full recovery by 2025. Efforts towards sustainable aviation, including the use of sustainable aviation fuels and exploring hydrogen as a decarbonization method, are a priority. Additionally, strategies to enhance aviation safety, improve air traffic management, and foster aviation innovation were discussed. The collaboration also extends to regulatory frameworks for unmanned aircraft systems and advanced air mobility. This partnership, initiated in 2022, continues to strengthen the strategic alliance between Singapore and Japan in the civil aviation sector.
