Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Rolls-Royce have announced a strategic partnership to drive research into hydrogen fuel system technology for aviation. TCS will provide engineering expertise to Rolls-Royce to tackle challenges related to fuel combustion, delivery, and system integration with aircraft engines, aiming to ensure safe operations. This collaboration is in line with the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) ambitious target of achieving net zero carbon emissions in aviation by 2050. Rolls-Royce's director of research and technology, Alan Newby, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting TCS's contribution to their hydrogen research program. The alliance was unveiled at the 45th Farnborough International Airshow in the UK. The partnership builds upon the longstanding relationship between Rolls-Royce and the Tata Group, emphasizing shared commitments to sustainability and innovation. TCS has been supporting Rolls-Royce in various capacities since 2010 and views this collaboration as a significant step towards sustainable aviation solutions.
