Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has partnered with KPIT Technologies to drive hydrogen mobility initiatives in Kerala, with a focus on establishing Hydrogen Refuelling Stations in key locations such as Kochi and Trivandrum. The collaboration was formalized at the Global Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Summit in Kochi, emphasizing the support towards the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines the ambitious goal of setting up infrastructure for hydrogen refuelling, which is crucial for promoting the use of hydrogen as a clean fuel for public transportation. BPCL will utilize an indigenously developed alkaline electrolyser for hydrogen production, enhancing the local manufacturing capabilities in this sector. Additionally, KPIT Technologies will introduce a fuel cell-powered bus designed locally, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. This partnership not only marks a milestone in the adoption of hydrogen as a clean energy source but also reinforces India's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) by promoting indigenous technologies for a greener future.
