The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, announced that Chamba would become home to India's first Green Hydrogen Based Mobility Station. This groundbreaking project aims to establish green hydrogen infrastructure in the district, with the station costing around Rs 14 crore. The initiative, led by the National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC), is expected to be completed by August 2025, showcasing a significant step towards promoting green energy in the region. The Mobility Station will feature a 300-kilowatt grid-connected solar power plant to meet energy requirements, producing 20 kg of green hydrogen per day. This hydrogen will power a green hydrogen bus, with a dispenser unit for refueling. The project is set to introduce green hydrogen buses to the area, creating awareness and fostering green energy practices in the region. Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the economic advantages of the project, stating that it would generate revenue and offer employment opportunities, contributing to the region's economic development. The government aims to transform Himachal Pradesh into a 'Green Energy State' by March 2026, focusing on utilizing green energy sources to meet energy demands and promoting green industries. Apart from the hydrogen project, Sukhu inaugurated several other developmental projects in Chamba. These initiatives include the construction of a Mini Secretariat Building, an indoor stadium, a Parking-cum-Commercial Complex, a Multipurpose Hall and library, a Trauma Care Centre, an Electricity Sub Station, a PG Block at Government Degree College, a Primary Health Centre, and a new bus stand, among others. Chief Minister Sukhu also announced upcoming projects for Chamba, such as the Chamba heliport and the Chamba-Chowari-Jot tunnel construction, highlighting the government's commitment to addressing the region's developmental needs. He assured the completion of projects like the Chamba Medical College building and promised to fill all medical staff positions to enhance healthcare services in the district.
