Indian Oil has collaborated with the Indian Navy to conduct trials and performance testing of a green hydrogen fuel cell bus in New Delhi. This initiative is part of the government's green push towards sustainable transportation solutions. An agreement was signed between Indian Oil and the Indian Navy to explore the use of hydrogen fuel cell technology for heavy-duty e-mobility. The ceremony took place at the Nau Sena Bhavan in the national capital, with senior officials from both organizations in attendance. The Indian Navy Chief expressed enthusiasm for deploying environment-friendly transportation in larger numbers through this partnership. Indian Oil emphasized its commitment to supporting defence forces with innovative solutions, particularly in the green hydrogen and fuel cell technology space. The research aims to evaluate the performance of fuel-cell electric buses in challenging climates like Delhi NCR and study the impact of local fuel and air quality on their efficiency. Additionally, the project seeks to assess the operational reliability of fuel cell buses for public fleet use. With Indian Oil already operating 15 fuel cell buses in Gujarat and Delhi-NCR, accumulating a total distance of 300,000 km, the project signifies a significant step towards advancing hydrogen and fuel cell technologies for heavy-duty e-mobility. The collaboration with the Indian Navy positions them as pioneers in testing and promoting these technologies in the country.
