The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India has introduced scheme guidelines for pilot projects involving green hydrogen in the transport sector as part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. These projects, with a significant budget support of Rs 208 crore from the Government of India, are set to be implemented with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) as the Implementing Agency. The approved pilot projects include 37 vehicles and nine hydrogen refueling stations operating on 10 different routes across the country.
Simultaneously, India has witnessed a boost in renewable energy capacity, with 24.10 gigawatts added during 2024-25, comprising solar, wind, bio-power, and hydro power. The Union Ministry also highlighted the positive trend of increased government health expenditure and reduced out-of-pocket healthcare expenses from 2014-15 to 2021-22.
Furthermore, there are initiatives focusing on rural development, including the continuation of the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana and efforts to manage diseases affecting coconut and arecanut plantations in Goa. Additionally, a significant budget allocation of Rs 86,000 crore has been made for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme to provide ongoing support for rural employment.
