Innovative Consortium Selected to Develop Hydrogen Refueling Station in Kreis Düren
Key Ideas
  • A consortium of LIFTE H2 GmbH and Resato Hydrogen Technology BV has been chosen to build a hydrogen refueling station for the expanding fuel cell bus fleet in Kreis Düren, Germany.
  • The project includes an HRS system supporting 23 buses initially, with plans to expand to accommodate 52 buses, showcasing a scalable and flexible infrastructure approach.
  • The station will provide 1.2 tonnes of hydrogen daily, reducing emissions and promoting reliable transit operations in line with clean transportation goals.
  • Scheduled for completion by Q3 2027, the project's second phase aims to meet the region's growing hydrogen infrastructure needs while ensuring service reliability and readiness for future growth.
In Berlin, Germany, a consortium composed of LIFTE H2 GmbH and Resato Hydrogen Technology BV has been selected to develop a hydrogen refueling station for Kreis Düren. This initiative, supported by Beteiligungsgesellschaft Kreis Düren, aims to facilitate the operation of hydrogen fuel cell buses in the region. The project, focusing on Lot 1, will deliver an advanced HRS system including design, delivery, and implementation of key components such as hydrogen supply panel, storage, compressor, cooling unit, dispensers, and control system. Initially, the station will support 23 buses with quick refueling capabilities, eventually expanding to accommodate 52 buses and providing 1.2 tonnes of hydrogen daily. Guido Emunds, Managing Director at Beteiligungsgesellschaft Kreis Düren, highlighted the project's contribution to clean transportation goals and emissions reduction. The collaboration between LIFTE H2 and Resato Hydrogen Technology ensures a reliable and scalable infrastructure solution. Paul Karzel, Managing Director of LIFTE H2, emphasized the expertise and technology integration to meet current and future hydrogen mobility needs. The project's second phase, set for completion by Q3 2027, aims to enhance the region's hydrogen infrastructure to support the growing bus fleet while maintaining adaptability for future developments.
