Ohmium's Green Hydrogen Initiative Powers Washington State's Zero Emission Transportation Network
Key Ideas
- Ohmium International to supply a 900 kW PEM electrolyzer system for Lewis County Transit's Zero Emission Transportation Network in Washington State.
- The electrolyzer system will produce green hydrogen on-site, fueling the county's expanding fleet of hydrogen-powered buses and reducing emissions.
- The initiative aims to streamline logistics, eliminate the need for fuel delivery, and support the transition to zero-emission public transportation in the Pacific Northwest.
- The installation at the Lewis County station is a significant milestone and is expected to be operational by the summer of 2025 to support the growing hydrogen fleet.
Ohmium International, a green hydrogen player, has been chosen as the electrolyzer supplier for Lewis County Transit's Zero Emission Transportation Network in Washington State. The company will install a 900 kW PEM electrolyzer system at a new Zero Emissions Transit Station to produce green hydrogen using city water and clean electricity from the grid. This green hydrogen will power the county's hydrogen buses, aiming to reduce emissions and enhance sustainability in public transportation. Ohmium's CEO, Arne Ballantine, highlighted the benefits of green hydrogen in making the transport sector more sustainable. The on-site generation of hydrogen by the electrolyzer system is set to improve efficiency by eliminating the need for fuel delivery. The system can produce up to 400 kg of green hydrogen daily, sufficient to fuel 10 hydrogen buses. This initiative marks a significant step towards zero-emission public transportation in the Pacific Northwest, with the Lewis County station expected to be operational by 2025 to support the expansion of the hydrogen fleet. Currently, Lewis County Transit operates three hydrogen buses and plans to increase the fleet to ten by 2030.
