Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd has recently awarded a substantial contract worth RM804,700,982.36 to Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd and China Road & Bridge Corporation for Package 2 of the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Blue Line. This contract involves the construction of approximately 11 kilometers of the Blue Line, spanning from Stutong to Hikmah Exchange. The scope of work includes the development of dedicated at-grade and elevated lanes, ART stations, road widening, and other necessary infrastructure upgrades. The project garnered significant interest with 13 tender submissions. Additionally, Sarawak Metro awarded the Bus Integrated System (BIS) contract to a joint venture company for RM55,500,000, which involves the deployment of hydrogen-powered feeder buses to support the ART network and provide first and last-mile connectivity. This initiative aims to improve public transportation in Kuching and boost the local economy through the Socio-Economic Enhancement Development (SEED) Programme, focusing on human capital development and supply chain enhancement.
