Sarawak is driving its green energy efforts further by incorporating electric vehicle (EV) initiatives into ships and boats, in addition to its focus on hydrogen-powered vehicles. Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin emphasized the significance of EVs in the state's sustainable transport strategy, while highlighting ongoing discussions with industry players to gauge the potential for broader EV adoption. The state is currently formulating its EV roadmap and exploring collaborations to enhance its EV infrastructure and promote the use of green energy for vehicles and ships. While discussing the federal government's plan for 10,000 charging stations nationwide, Lee stressed the need to analyze future trends before setting specific targets for Sarawak. He also mentioned the importance of private sector cooperation in expanding the state's EV infrastructure. Furthermore, Lee underlined the role of technology advancements such as fast chargers and AI in shaping Sarawak's transportation landscape, along with the state's focus on talent development and digitalization to prepare for the future.
