During a question-and-answer session at the 15th Parliament Meeting in Kuching, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof expressed the Federal government's full support for Sarawak's energy transition goals. Fadillah, who also serves as the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, acknowledged Sarawak's ambition to expand its renewable energy (RE) capacity to 15 gigawatts by 2035 in a bid to establish itself as a regional hydrogen production hub. The Federal government is actively involved in integrating Sarawak's energy transition aspirations into national planning, emphasizing collaboration and knowledge sharing with regulatory agencies and stakeholders in the region. Fadillah assured that the government is prepared to assist Sarawak in achieving its renewable energy targets and becoming a hub for clean energy in Southeast Asia. While solar power installations for homes are currently limited to Peninsular Malaysia due to differing legislations, Fadillah encouraged the Sarawak government to explore similar initiatives in the region through collaboration with relevant agencies. The Deputy Prime Minister's positive stance towards Sarawak's renewable energy initiatives reflects a promising outlook for the State's energy transition journey.
