In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, Saudi Arabia has introduced its first hydrogen-powered bus in Al-Ahsa. The launch event was attended by prominent figures, including His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Ahsa, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in aligning with Saudi Vision 2030. The bus, operated by SATCO, has a range of 635 kilometers on a single charge and can accommodate 45 passengers, connecting Dammam with Al-Ahsa Governorate. This development aligns with the Kingdom's goal to generate 50% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030, with a specific focus on hydrogen production, notably green hydrogen. The hydrogen-powered bus not only offers a clean alternative to traditional diesel vehicles but also showcases the Kingdom's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions. Benefits of such buses include zero emissions, energy efficiency, economic diversification, and reduction of noise pollution. Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih highlighted that this initiative is part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, emphasizing the importance of innovation and sustainable transportation in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing Saudi Arabia's competitiveness globally.
