In Suffolk, UK, a pilot test service for workers at the Sizewell C nuclear power plant is underway featuring Wrightbus hydrogen buses. This trial involves three hydrogen double-deckers and one single-deck bus, marking the introduction of the first hydrogen buses in Suffolk. If successful, these buses could be utilized for the entire construction period of Sizewell C, with the potential order of up to 150 hydrogen buses, thus forming the UK’s largest hydrogen bus fleet. The initiative includes the establishment of the first hydrogen refuelling station of its kind in Suffolk, showcasing the potential for further development of hydrogen transport in the region. The project, led by a consortium including Ryze Power, received over £3m in government funding to test a mobile hydrogen refuelling system. Wrightbus CEO, Jean-Marc Gales, expressed optimism about the trial, emphasizing the company's dedication to hydrogen as a crucial element in the energy transition.
