Wrightbus, a leading zero-emission bus manufacturer in Northern Ireland, has unveiled the upgraded Streetdeck Hydroliner Gen 2.0, the latest version of its flagship hydrogen double deck bus. This new vehicle, built in the Ballymena factory, offers improved fuel efficiency, a greater range of over 300 miles, reduced costs, and increased passenger capacity compared to its predecessor. Funded by the UK government and developed over four years by a consortium of partners, including Grayson Thermal Systems, Queen’s University, Belfast, HYGEN, and Translink, the project aims to enhance UK manufacturing capabilities for zero-emission technology. The Next Gen Hydroliner features a fuel-cell from Ballard and an electric traction system, enabling quick refueling and enhanced safety features. With 95% of buses produced by Wrightbus being zero emissions, the company is making significant strides towards sustainability. The CEO of Wrightbus, Jean-Marc Gales, expressed pride in the innovation and efficiency of the new bus, highlighting the company's commitment to net zero emissions.
