The Indian government is set to focus on enhancing railway safety and infrastructure development in the upcoming Union Budget 2025. Plans include a significant 18% increase in allocation towards Railways, with earmarked capital expenditure of Rs 2,62,200 crore from the previous budget. The government aims to armor 10,000 locomotives and 15,000 km of rail lines in the next 2 years, with an estimated budget of Rs 12,000 crore. Additionally, there will be a boost in rolling stock and new orders for forged wheels. The expansion plans also encompass the introduction of advanced trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat, along with the modernization of railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme. Notably, the government is gearing up for the introduction of hydrogen trains, showcasing a commitment to innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.
