MAN Truck & Bus recently presented its range of truck drives featuring electric, hydrogen, and advanced diesel models ahead of the IAA Transportation 2024 event. The introduction took place in Austria with test drives involving around 200 journalists, emphasizing the decarbonization of road freight transport. The new MAN eTruck, with over a million configuration options, showed readiness for various industries and a daily range of up to 800 kilometers, attracting significant customer interest with 2,000 order requests already received. MAN aims to have every second truck in Europe by 2030 be battery-electric and is focusing on expanding charging infrastructure in collaboration with joint ventures like Milence. Additionally, MAN is working on hydrogen technology, planning to deliver hydrogen-combustion trucks in small series starting from 2025 for special applications and regions facing challenges with charging infrastructure. The company is also introducing highly efficient diesel engines for conventional combustion-engine trucks to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Alongside decarbonization efforts, MAN is also focusing on enhancing safety and assistance systems in their vehicles, introducing advanced emergency braking systems and turning aids for enhanced road safety.
