Siemens Mobility has achieved a significant milestone in advancing green transportation with the approval of its Mireo Plus H hydrogen trains for passenger operation in Berlin-Brandenburg and Bavarian regions. These hydrogen-powered trains aim to replace diesel trains, leading to a reduction of 1.1 million liters of diesel fuel consumption annually and a decrease in CO2 emissions by 3,000 tons. By utilizing locally produced hydrogen, the trains emit only water vapor as a by-product, promoting eco-friendly mobility. Additionally, recovered braking energy enhances the trains' energy efficiency. Siemens Mobility is also introducing Mireo Plus B battery trains in Brandenburg, which will significantly reduce diesel consumption, eliminate local CO2 emissions, and offer enhanced passenger amenities such as wheelchair access, free WiFi, and designated family areas. Further developments include the deployment of new trains in the Danube-Isar and Regensburg-Danube Valley networks, providing modern features, eco-friendliness, and increased seating capacity to cater to passenger needs.
