The European Commission has announced a funding package of EUR 53.9 million to support the deployment of clean hydrogen and renewable power in Namibia. This initiative includes three agreements aimed at driving investment in the green hydrogen sector and enhancing energy planning in the country. The EU, along with Germany and the Netherlands, will contribute to green hydrogen investment funds, energy planning initiatives, and the Namibia Green Hydrogen Program. The funding will focus on private sector projects across the hydrogen value chain, decentralized renewable energy solutions, and regulatory support mechanisms for the green hydrogen sector. The investment is part of the EU's Global Gateway initiative, which plans to invest EUR 300 billion by 2027 in various sectors, including energy.
