Stef Group Introduces Hydrogen-Powered Forklifts in France and Spain
Key Ideas
- Stef Group collaborates with Toyota Material Handling Europe and Plug Power to introduce hydrogen-powered forklifts in France and Spain.
- The projects aim to create a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem integrating H2 production with material handling equipment, enhancing operational productivity and reducing environmental impact.
- Hydrogen fuel cell technology offers superior performance under Stef's operating conditions, with a longer lifespan than traditional batteries and quicker refilling time, contributing to safety and efficiency.
Stef Group, a European transport and logistics services provider for temperature-controlled food products, has launched projects in France and Spain to introduce hydrogen-powered forklifts and hydrogen fuel cell solutions. The forklifts, supplied by Toyota Material Handling Europe and Plug Power, will be deployed at a transport platform near Paris and a logistics warehouse near Madrid. The initiative is part of Stef's Moving Green climate initiative with the goal of using 100% low-carbon energy by the end of 2025. In France, green hydrogen produced with renewable energy will be utilized, while in Spain, hydrogen will be produced on-site using an electrolyser powered by a photovoltaic rooftop plant. Stef believes that hydrogen fuel cell technology can significantly improve forklift operational productivity, especially in their temperature-controlled operating conditions. The benefits of hydrogen-powered forklifts include a longer lifespan, quicker refilling time, and reduced environmental impact, aligning with Stef's sustainability goals and commitment to green energy.
