In September 2024, President Cyril Ramaphosa led a State Visit to China to strengthen the partnership between South Africa and China during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) 2024 Summit. The Summit focused on industrialization in Africa, with China supporting sectors like manufacturing, energy, and agriculture. FOCAC resulted in bilateral agreements covering areas such as industrialization, trade, technology, and agricultural modernization. Efforts were made to address the trade imbalance between South Africa and China, highlighting the importance of exporting finished goods to China.
