Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun has agreed to strengthen the partnership with Indonesia in the fields of electric vehicles (EV) and hydrogen energy. The collaboration was solidified during a meeting between Chung, Hyundai Motor CEO Chang Jae-hoon, and other executives with Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. Hyundai is already actively engaged in building an EV ecosystem in Indonesia and aims to increase its manufacturing capacity in the country, with plans to produce over 250,000 vehicles annually. Hyundai's commitment to Indonesia is evident as it is the only EV manufacturer with a fully localized production system in Southeast Asia. The Indonesian government's efforts to accelerate EV development by providing incentives and developing a roadmap have attracted Hyundai's interest. In addition to EVs, Hyundai is also collaborating with Indonesia to implement waste-to-hydrogen production solutions. The Indonesian government is keen on deepening ties with Hyundai, especially after the carmaker's investments and commitments in the country. Hyundai's expansion in Indonesia is a strategic move, as it aims to leverage the country's resources and government support to become a key player in the region's automotive and energy sectors.
