Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has entered a strategic partnership with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. to explore the potential of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs) in the Indian automotive landscape. The collaboration involves a two-year trial of the Hyundai NEXO, a hydrogen-powered vehicle, to assess its performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness under diverse Indian terrains and driving conditions. The project will also include a detailed Total Cost of Ownership analysis to evaluate critical factors such as fuel consumption and maintenance expenses. Both companies express optimism about the transformative potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology in India's energy sector. Hyundai's Managing Director, Unsoo Kim, and Indian Oil's Director (R&D), Dr. Alok Sharma, highlight the importance of this collaboration in advancing India's clean energy goals and promoting sustainable transportation solutions. The MoU signifies Hyundai's commitment to hydrogen mobility globally and its efforts to strengthen the hydrogen roadmap in India. In addition to the partnership with Indian Oil, Hyundai is collaborating with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to establish a cutting-edge 'Hydrogen Innovation Centre' to support research, development, and testing of hydrogen-related technologies. This initiative aims to accelerate innovation in green hydrogen technologies and contribute to building a greener mobility ecosystem in India.
