Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof of Malaysia highlighted the country's dedication to creating an innovation-friendly environment to unlock hydrogen's potential in various sectors. The government will provide financial support, incentives for technology adoption, and foster collaboration to pave the way for a hydrogen economy that aids in climate change mitigation. Malaysia's recently launched Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap sets the ambitious goal of establishing the country as a leading hydrogen economy by 2050. Initiatives include funding for fuel cell research, collaboration on green hydrogen production from biomass and water electrolysis, and catalyst projects for green hydrogen production and export. The roadmap focuses on addressing challenges along the hydrogen value chain, emphasizing governance, technology commercialization, and human capital development. Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah also stressed the importance of infrastructure development and investments for widespread hydrogen adoption. The government aims to position Malaysia as a regional leader in hydrogen technology and innovation by supporting research and development to create an ecosystem conducive to idea generation and business growth.
